State Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) has announced that she will run for another term.
"I am so fortunate to have had the honor of serving the people of District 23 in the state Senate. We made great progress this legislative session, especially in the areas of education, economic development, energy conservation, and access to affordable heath care and housing," Hassan said in a statement. "I am particularly proud to have had a role in passing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, or "RGGI", so that New Hampshire will join with nine other states to begin a comprehensive approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and slow climate change. I am also pleased that we were able to pass the Health First legislation which will reduce insurance costs for small businesses."
Hassan is often mentioned as a possible future candidate for governor and there is currently is announced Republican candidate running against her.
Hassan represents Senate District 23 which includes the towns of East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, Kingston, Newfields, Newmarket, Newton, Seabrook, South Hampton and Stratham.

If Senator Hassan thinks
If Senator Hassan thinks she's going to be Governor she needs to learn how to support her democratic base and her constituents.
LOL-Hassan is a klinton
LOL-Hassan is a klinton wannabe, no more, no less. Just another unctuous ambulance chaser from mass ruining our state.
After she screwed over every
After she screwed over every union in the state this year, she'll never become governor.
Lynch's mouth piece
This press release must have been written by the governor's office.
Overhyped
Hassan's statements after the Clinton choice flier guaranteed that she will face a tough primary when she runs for governor. Word's been out about that with Obama supporters for months.
She became really divisive this year. She burned bridges with labor, victims, choice and Obama groups. Hassan is not Governor Lynch's inevitable successor anymore.
Maggie's burned bridges
She's burned some serious bridges this year, not the sweet Maggie we all used to know and love. Lots of anger on this blog. Maybe someone from the Senate staff will give her a heads-up. You can't burn your friends and expect their vote. No one likes a 100 dollar a year "politician" with a big head. This is not a sexist statement, the same goes for many of the male members of her caucus too. Say what you want about politicians like Letourneau, Gallus, Lynch, Burling, Larsen, MFC, Lou... they're all likeable and have their egos in check. Too bad that Gatsas and Larsen can't reign the rest of them in.
Another elitest, Mass
Another elitest, Mass transplant.
The man with the big ego
"Say what you want about politicians like Letourneau, Gallus, Lynch, Burling, Larsen, MFC, Lou... they're all likeable and have their egos in check."
Lou D'Allesandron has his ego in check? That's the funniest thing I've ever seen on this site. Thanks for a good laugh.
We need Lou!
Anyone who thinks that Larsen is running the Senate democrats is naive. The Senate has been run by Hassan and Foster for the past two years. In an effort to preserve their barebones majority they have betrayed their principals and people who helped elect them in the first place. Senator Lou has stuck with the pro-choice advocates the labor unions and others. Hassan has a short memory and has stuck it to the very people who supported her failed effort in 2002 and again in 2004 when she made it the senate. If the Senate democrats retain the majority they need to dump the Foster/Hassan team and enlist Lou as Senate President!! He takes care of the people who helped elect him.
Hassan the Overhyped
Wow. Has any other pol had this many comments on politickernh.com before?
MWH is the most over-hyped pol to come down the NHDP turnpike since we became the majority party. She squandered her potential with under-handed political stunts against fellow Democrats in 2008 - Obama, victims rights, choice, labor. "People who know" are well aware of it and won't forget it either.
I've never seen a NH pol, at least in our party, burn her bridges so quickly. Kinda sad, but she did it to herself.
Out of Control
It's a well known fact at the State House- Maggie is out of control.
Last Term in SD 23 Hassan
I am a register Democratic voter and am a constituent of Senator Hassan.
I have a real issue with Senator Hassan LACK OF RESPONSIVENESS to her constituent. Most recently was the attempt to water down HB 1640 AN ACT relative to sex offenders against children. Not once did Senator Hassan responded back.
Senator Hassan needs to learn how to listen and respond back to her constituents. That is why I am going to support Marshall "Lee" Quandt for SD 23.
