A Concord Monitor analysis finds that freshmen U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) share more than just the same political affiliation.
"Both have sided with House Democratic leaders on about 98 percent of votes, according to congressional voting records records," The Monitor concluded. "Those percentages put Hodes and Shea-Porter in the top fifth of House members when it comes to voting with their own party."
Hodes and Shea-Porter defended their voting records saying it is the "right agenda."
"If the agenda is the right agenda, and the votes are the right votes for the country and New Hampshire, I will take those votes," Hodes said.
"I am very proud of this agenda," Shea-Porter said. "It's the agenda of the American people."
New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen said Hodes and Shea-Porter has not shown any independence from the House Democratic leadership.
"They have both voted lockstep with the Democratic leadership, showing no independence, and that surprises me," Cullen told The Monitor. "I thought they would at least pick some symbolic issue and publicly disagree with (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi. They haven't done that."

Enlighten me Mr.Cullen

Is that correct? Did you see this?
Hodes, Shea-Porter vote against FISA
By Wally Edge
The US House today approved the controversial FISA bill by a vote of 293-129. New Hampshire’s two congressional members, Paul Hodes (NH-01) and Carol Shea-Porter (NH-02) were both among the 129 to vote against the measure.
Well...
The article does point out they voted the same as the majority 98% of the time...
Even if they voted against FISA bill, that is part of only 2% they voted on their own and that doesn't show "independence." Based on this article Cullen's statement can be seen as accurate.
Hard to argue against the facts in the article.
Shades of accurate
Mr.Cullen would have been completely "accurate" had he injected the words "most of the time" or the single word "much." Unfortunately, he is not in a position to cede any political ground, nor is he likely to miss the opportunity to exaggerate for the betterment of his colleagues.
Yes, accuracy, or truth for that matter, sustains heavy collateral damage these days. You would think I'd grow immune to these shenanigans.
And while the two "peas" vote in "lockstep," I sure am glad we get things like a New GI Bill. You know, the one the VFW advocated.
How many men and women from NH have served in the GWOT?
Thank you Paul and Carol.
Big deal. 98% is not
Big deal. 98% is not lockstep?
and this Hodes franking issue -- what a waste of taxpayer dollars.. and this Porter phony town hall tour. too much.
The Pelosi Twins!
Gotta love the Pelosi twins! I am ashamed of my state for electing these dopes!
You're ashamed of helping working folks?
Your “twins” have been working hard for Granite Staters. Hodes has brought aid to small businesses in the North country and Shea-Porter has brought more federal home heating assistance to the elderly.
They are getting it done for NH. Have they done everything that needs to be done? No, who ever has. These two won’t quit on NH.
