New Hampshire Young DemocratsCONCORD- The New Hampshire Young Democrats (NHYDs) today announced that they have started a program aimed at helping their members get elected to the state legislature.
The program, titled "603 Forward: The Campaign to elect Young Democrats," will help elect 31 young Democrats running for state representative.
"The New Hampshire Young Democrats are committed are bring a fresh perspective to Concord," said NHYD President Garth Corriveau at a press conference with young Democrats running for office.
"This generation of voters have seen nothing but partisan politics and their sick of it," said Roberto Fuentes (D-Nashua), a candidate for the state House.
Candidates said that their age and schedules are the most challenging parts about running for office.
"Some people say aren't you a little too young to be running for office," said Camron Iannalfo, a candidate for the state House in Rockingham District 4.
Though Gene Martin (D-Manchester), another state Rep. candidate, added that most people look past their age once they start talking about the issues.
"Once we start talking about the issues people understand why we're running."
The list of candidates includes several college students who use their college addresses to meet state residency requirements.
When asked about the requirements, Kevin Hodges, New Hampshire Democratic Party House Caucus Director, said the candidates meets the law.
"We've been pretty diligent about making sure everyone meets the residence requirements," Hodges told reporters.

Impressive
Good work young democrats. good to see you were able to move beyond the Chynoweth/Hillary debacle.
IMHO
While I applaud the college students ambition, no one finds it strange that these students will pick up and leave during breaks, potential transfers, and graduation> How can the state constitution allow for dual residency?
I don't mean to sour the article, but here in Manchester we had over 50% of our reps (all democrats) miss more than 50% of the votes in Concord. One of my reps didn't even make 1 vote in 2 years.
Research
“Manchester-Voter” I had a similar concern; however, I looked at where these young people are running from, if you looked beyond the mere words of this article and applied some knowledge you would have seen that very few of them are running in areas that have a college or university.
With just a simple look at what Country and District they list, it seems a great majority of them will be running in their hometowns, which is great to hear that young people have a pride in the cities/towns they grew up in.
I don’t see your dual residency concerns, again with a little investigation “Manchester-Voter,” you would know that if a college student wants to claim residency at his or her school they lose the residency of their hometown.
Go Young Dems – best of luck!
Munchies
Let me guess, their main goal if they get elected is to try and legalize pot.
Candidacy
Actually, we only have two candidates that are using their college address: 1 out of St. Anselm College, running in Goffstown, and 1 running a write-in campaign from SNHU in Hooksett.
We are positive they meet residency requirements.
Nice to see Fergus' minions
Nice to see Fergus' minions spending their time doing such positive work for the NH Republicans.
