Shea-Porter Announces HHS Grant to Ensure Access to Health Care Coverage
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter announced today that New Hampshire has been awarded a nearly $900,000 federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The grant will be used to offset the cost of providing health insurance to New Hampshire residents who cannot get conventional health insurance because of their health status.
The grant will be administered through the New Hampshire Health Plan, a state high-risk pool which provides health insurance to New Hampshire residents who are declined coverage through the private market, such as individuals with serious and chronic medical conditions.
“This grant provides crucial funding to the New Hampshire Health Plan,” stated Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter. “It will ensure affordable health care access for some of our most vulnerable citizens.”
The $882,252 grant that has been awarded to New Hampshire is part of a $49 million HHS grant to a total of 30 states.
