The conservative website GraniteGrok has endorsed former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro).
"When one looks at his record and considers the general center-right makeup of the 1st CD, he is as closely matched with constituents as a politician could be," wrote Doug Lambert. "His conservative credentials come attached with a reasonable and respected record on the environment that can be defended against the overheated rhetoric that will be undoubtedly deployed by Shea-Porter and the big money special interest groups backing her (Sierra Club, etc)."
Bradley is running against former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester) in the 1st Congressional District Republican primary.
Update: “I am very pleased to have received the endorsement and support of Skip and Doug. Granite Grok is a site that I read regularly and at times appear on and am always impressed with the values expressed by Skip and Doug and their ability to demonstrate the dangerous impact of the current Congress on our citizens,” Bradley said in a press release.

Current Congress
Bradley laments the current Congress even though it was his lack of backbone and leadership that led to it coming into existence!
Bradley is too attached to the Bush years to win, case in point is his DEFEAT to Shea-Porter two years ago. Why put a loser into a fight you know he can't win?
Great news for Jeb. His
Great news for Jeb.
His campaign continues rolling on past the primary and into the general.
Bradley Endorsement
The Grok is "supposedly" a conservative blog. However, their endorsement of Bradley indicates a willingness to support earmarks in our federal budget, a practice that has driven our dollar to shambles. John Stephen is the proven conservative in the GOP 1st CD race with pledge to end earmarks, much like the pledge of the Grok's 2nd CD endorsement recipient, Grant Bosse.
Endorsing Bosse and Bradley is like hedging a put on a failing stock. The Grok has made no sense with its endorsement of Bradley and I am left stratching my head just wondering why......
Great news for Bradley. Out
Great news for Bradley. Out of all other candidates in the first Bradley has been gaining momentum and endorsements more than any other.
As for Granite Grok supporting him I think it is great when conservative minded people join together.
Great endorsement, keep
Great endorsement, keep working Jeb and Shea-Porter will be out in no time.
Knowone really knows who John Stephen is and what people do it is that he liked spending money when he worked for the human services.
Who cares?
A couple of Republican hacks in their pajamas think Jeb is great. Wow.
Bradley's record?
Remind us again - what did he do? (other than voting with Bush 93% of the time.)
Some analysis
Granite Grok's endorsement of Bradley tells us more about a conservative blog's attempt to become more legitimate than it does about former Congressman Bradley. To argue that Bradley, a pleasant fellow no doubt, is where we are politically in the 1 CD is an overstatement. Rep. Bradley was fortunate to run against 2 legitimate conservative candidates (Stephen, Mahoney) in 2002. Either of the two would have been a better congressman then. Either of the two would defeat an incredibly weak leftist congresswoman now.
Move forward to 2008. Stephen is still the better candidate. Just ask yourself this question on Primary Day: Who is more likely to join the likes of Congressman Pence, Shadegg, Ryan etc. in leading the party back to its conservative roots in the US House? No-brainer: John Stephen
sad
Stephen is adept at living in the past, I'll give him that. He speaks of Mel Thomson, Reagan, and the Contract With America - yet shows no sign of being able to move into the 21st century. Someday, perhaps, the GOP will have a plan for the future that isn't rehashing the failed policies from their past.
