John Stephen Wins NH Union Leader EndorsementState's Largest Paper Says "Finally, A Fiscal Conservative"
MANCHESTER, NH- Republican 1st District Congressional candidate John Stephen today won the endorsement of the state's largest newspaper, the New Hampshire Union Leader and Sunday News.  In today's lead editorial, the paper called on voters to support Stephen as "a representative in Washington they can trust to vote for lower spending, lower taxes, sound economic policy and a strong defense."  The editorial continued by saying that, "John Stephen offers Republicans the chance to send a true fiscal conservative to Washington."
"The endorsement of the Union Leader has always been the gold standard in New Hampshire for those who would limit government, restore freedom and bring accountability to Congress," said Stephen.  "Washington is broken and wasting our money.  It's about time we had leaders who are willing to treat tax dollars as frugally as our own.  We can't continue the reckless spending we have seen from Congress over the past six years, with $2 trillion in debt added on our children and grandchildren.  It's not about the party, it's about the values."
The editorial went on to say that, "Stephen showed his commitment to responsible spending. He consistently sought to do more with less, and he succeeded."  The paper concluded by stating, "In John Stephen, supporters of low taxes and limited government have a candidate they can whole-heartedly support."
"Growing up in Manchester, many of my political views were shaped by the editorials in the Union Leader," added Stephen.  "I am so thrilled to have earned their support and I intend to keep doing the things that I have done in the past, making government smaller, more efficient and more effective, that caused this important New Hampshire institution to endorse my candidacy."
