Gal Thomson, wife of former Gov. Mel Thomson, has endorsed state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) in the 2nd Congressional District primary.
"Low taxes are the result of low spending. That was my husband's mantra," Thomson said in a press release. "Bob Clegg has worked for the last 20 years at the local and state level with exactly that philosophy and that's why I am supporting his candidacy."
Clegg said he was "honored" to have the endorsement.
"I am absolutely honored by the support of Mrs. Thomson. She and her husband have always worked hard to protect the New Hampshire way of life."
Mel Thomson served as governor from 1973 to 1979 and is often cited by New Hampshire Republicans as an example of fiscal conservatism.
Clegg is running in the 2nd Congressional District Republican primary against Jim Steiner (R-Concord), Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) and Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua).
