Group airs energy ad

An independent political group has begun airing a television ad examining the energy records of U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

The ad from the American Future Fund is critical of Shaheen's stance on drilling, while telling Granite State residents to tell Sununu to support the Gas Price Reduction Act, an act that Sununu is co-sponsoring.

"New Hampshire families are hurting from record gas prices. But Jeanne Shaheen opposes exploring huge American oil reserves - offshore, and in Alaska," the announcer states. "While the U.S. remains dependent on foreign oil...and the Wall Street Journal says gas could go to six bucks a gallon."

The ad then informs viewers that Sununu has supported various tax credits and offshore drilling.

"John Sununu cosponsored tax credits for renewable energy.  And Sununu supports safe exploration off our costs. Call Sununu - encourage him to pass S. 3202 - for energy security."
