U.S. Sen. John McCain's New Hampshire campaign co-chair says that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) will appeal to women voters.
"Obviously she's a young Republican office holder as governor, and I think she'll appeal to women voters in the state," Peter Spaulding told PolitickerNH.com when asked what advantages Palin will bring to the Republican presidential ticket.
Spaulding also said that the initial response to the pick has been positive.
"It's been very positive; I've had a number of calls from people to say they were happy he picked a woman," he said. "I even got a call from a woman who has a child with Down's Syndrome."
Palin's youngest child has Down's Syndrome.
The co-chair added that supporters were glad that McCain picked someone "outside the old boys network."
Spaulding said he learned about the pick this morning on the internet.
"I could say that Senator McCain called me this morning to me a heads-up but I found out like most people on the internet," Spaulding joked.
