Cullen says convention should proceed as scheduled
By Brian Lawson, PolitickerNH.com ReporterThe chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party says the Republican convention should not be delayed because of Hurricane Gustav, which is threatening the Gulf Coast.
"The answer is no," Fergus Cullen told PolitickerNH.com. "Should schools in New Hampshire not open on Tuesday because of the hurricane? It would be an overreaction."
The National Hurricane Center is currently predicting the Hurricane, upgraded to a category 4 hurricane, will hit Louisiana sometime on Monday.
Cullen also said that Gulf State governors will put their gubernatorial duties over national politics.
"The governors in the states that might be affected are closely monitoring the situation. They will put their states first."
