GATSAS ASKS PUC TO STOP DELAYS AT MERRIMACK STATION
OUTRAGED OVER PUC’S CONSUMERS ADVOCATES POSITTION
CONCORD, NH - - In response to comments made by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Office of Consumer Advocate Meredith Hatfield regarding Merrimack Station in Bow, New Hampshire State Senator Theodore L. Gatsas (State Senate, D-16) issued the following comment.
“It’s outrageous that the PUC continues to cause further delay of the scrubber project at Merrimack Station in Bow, NH. The project must go forward; everyday that we delay we cost the ratepayers of New Hampshire more money and it puts the Town of Bow in a precarious position. Meredith Hatfield has indicated that an alternative to the scrubber project is closing Merrimack Station. Such action would be detrimental to the Town of Bow and PSNH customers. The PUC has overstepped their authority and is causing irreversible harm to the ratepayers and the Town of Bow.”
Merrimack Station in Bow, New Hampshire provides 40% of the power in PSNH’s portfolio and produces up to 70% of the power of New Hampshire residents.
Senator Ted Gatsas is the minority leader in the New Hampshire State Senate currently serving his fourth term. He represents Senate District 16 comprised of: Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett and Manchester Wards 1, 2 and 12.
