Death Penalty Abolition Vigil Friday, Sept. 26
CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE --- The New Hampshire Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty will hold a silent vigil on Friday, September 26 from noon to 1:00 PM on the sidewalk in front of the State House to stand in opposition to the death penalty.
The Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty is a group of civic and religious leaders dedicated to abolishing the death penalty in New Hampshire.
The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church will be in New Hampshire and will participate in the vigil.
“We are saddened by the unprecedented and regrettable use of the death penalty in New Hampshire. While we deplore the use of violence by one citizen against another citizen, we cannot condone the state’s imposition of death,” said Barbara Keshen, chair of the Coalition.
