WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senators Judd Gregg and John Sununu (R-NH) today (10/1) announced that the United States Department of Labor has released $106,091 in supplemental Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) funds for New Hampshire. The allocation, which includes $68,953 for job training efforts and $23,300 for job search and relocation costs, will support that State’s existing TAA-funded programs to assist workers who have lost their jobs due to increased imports from foreign countries.
"This supplemental funding will help workers, their families, and New Hampshire communities, including Berlin and Groveton, which have been negatively impacted by plant closures," said Gregg and Sununu. "TAA benefits offer helpful resources to workers, including training services, employment counseling, and assistance with job search and health insurance costs. Our offices will continue to work closely with local, state, and federal officials to ensure that workers get the help they need."
New Hampshire’s allocation is part of the U.S. Labor Department’s release of $34 million in reserve funds from its Fiscal Year 2008 TAA funds. The reserve funds were divided among the 19 states with the highest TAA expenditures.
