DCCC Mailer Contains Smear Of Jeb Bradley’s Record Protecting Veterans

CONCORD – Out of state independent groups are financing Carol Shea-Porter’s smear campaign against Jeb Bradley and making disgusting attacks that exploit our soldiers for political purposes.

“While outside groups and Washington insiders try and prop up Carol Shea-Porter’s failed record, they are also running a vile smear campaign against Jeb Bradley,” said Fergus Cullen, Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party.

“National groups have spent more on Carol Shea-Porter than on any other candidate across the country, and they are spending it all on disgusting attacks that exploit our veterans for the sake of partisan politics. This most recent mailer from national Democrats crosses the line. It’s worse than trash and I call on Carol Shea-Porter to renounce these smear tactics,” concluded Cullen.

According to a report in the Politico, liberal special-interest groups are backing Carol Shea-Porter, and are doing so to the tune of  “a whopping $631,000 than has been spent on any other district in the country.” (Politico, 9/29/08)

SMEAR: The DCCC mailer exploits the image of an injured veteran and a Purple Heart to imply that Jeb Bradley doesn’t care about Veterans.

FACT: Jeb Bradley Fought In Congress For Our Veterans

·        Jeb Bradley’s amendments to the 2005 and 2006 House Budget increased funding for veteran's health care. (H.Con.Res. 95; H.Con.Res.393)

·        Jeb Bradley worked to open a new outpatient clinic for veterans in Somersworth and fought to keep the emergency room at the Manchester VA Medical Center open.

·        Jeb Bradley worked to allow retired military members to receive both retirement pay and service related disability compensation, ending decades of inaction on this issue. (H.R. 1588, Public Law 108-136)

·        Jeb Bradley visited the troops in Iraq and supported them with increased pay and the funding they require while serving in harm's way.

Jeb Bradley has a strong record standing up for New Hampshire Veterans, and a recent mailer from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is nothing more than a vile smear:
