PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE ENDORSE PAUL HODES

Today, Congressman Paul Hodes proudly stands with the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire and their President, Dave Lang, as they endorse his campaign for Congress.  This is the first major endorsement that the Hodes for Congress campaign has publicly released of the 2008 general election.

Congressman Hodes said: "It is a privilege and an honor to stand today with the first responders who work so hard to keep us safe.  They are true New Hampshire heroes, and I am honored to have their support in my campaign.  As a union member, I know how hard organizations like the Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire work to secure benefits for their members. Firefighters and paramedics provide critical protection in communities across the Granite State and deserve our full support."

Dave Lang, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire said: "As our Representative, Congressman Hodes has earned our support because he has consistently supported legislation important to our members and the issues surrounding labor. He is a strong advocate for working men and women; voting to allow legislative workers to join unions and supporting the expansion of family and medical leave."

In Congress, Paul Hodes has consistently stood with professional firefighters and paramedics to support legislation that they need to safely and effectively do their jobs.  Congressman Hodes understands the importance of SAFER and the FIRE ACT and has worked to expand funding which makes their jobs in public safety easier to perform.  Congressman Hodes also strongly supports efforts to enact legislation for collective bargaining, presumptive disability for federal firefighters and the repeal of the Government Pension Offset.

The Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire represent over 2,000 professional firefighters and paramedics who protect the Granite State, including approximately 1,200 men and women who live and work within New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District.
