Janeway in favor of Income Tax

(Concord)   State Senate candidate Andy Sanborn is calling out Harold Janeway for his continued push towards New Hampshire's first-ever Income Tax. In an article in this morning's Concord Monitor, Janeway struck a blow to all New Hampshire taxpayers. Janeway refused to take the popular Anti Tax Pledge, saying "it's not necessary to earn the voters' trust". In the article, Janeway blames New Hampshire's record budget deficit on the national economic downtown, yet New Hampshire revenue levels are at all-time highs.  The projected deficit stems from unrealistic revenue forecasts and overspending, which Janeway approved last year.

"Harold Janeway wants to shift the blame for New Hampshire's budget problem, ignoring his string of budget-busting votes, and now wants an Income Tax to make up for it," Sanborn said. "Harold Janeway's Income Tax will cripple New Hampshire's economy, and destroy the New Hampshire Advantage."

Janeway's pro-tax stance is consistent with his record in the State Senate. Janeway voted for all 22 tax increases, nearly half a billion dollars in new spending, and a 17.5% increase in the state budget. Janeway is a firm Income Tax supporter, with a long history of supporting pro-Income Tax candidates and groups.

"I have taken the Pledge to not support a sales or an income tax.  In this economy we do not need any new taxes or fees.  My platform is based upon getting the Government out of our houses, out of our businesses and out of our pockets.  That's way I am running", said Sanborn
