Sanborn to Janeway: We Don't Need an Income Tax
Janeway challenged to abolish Income Tax plan

(Warner)   State Senate candidate Andy Sanborn is challenging Harold Janeway to abolish his radical view that New Hampshire needs an Income Tax.  Janeway is an Income Tax supporter, and has a record in the State Senate of deficit spending and higher taxes. Sanborn believes in a small, more accountable government, with lower spending, and lower taxes.

"Harold Janeway has a chance to side with New Hampshire voters, and abolish his support for an Income Tax," said Sanborn. "The only way to confront our mounting deficit is to cut state spending, not raise taxes."

In just one term in the New Hampshire State Senate, Janeway voted to raise taxes 22 times, approved half a billion dollars in new spending, and voted for a 17.5 percent increase in the state budget. Last week, Janeway told the Concord Monitor that New Hampshire needs more sources of revenue, although New Hampshire brought in record state revenues last year. Janeway's support for an Income Tax also became crystal clear, as he cavalierly refused to take the No Tax Pledge, claiming that refusing to do so doesn't have to be "political suicide". Janeway then told the Union Leader on October 10th that an Income Tax "should be on the table."

"Harold Janeway's Income Tax plan isn't what New Hampshire voters want," Sanborn continued. "Janeway can show voters he understands their struggles and abolish his radical Income Tax plan."
