Wendelboe starts alternative party site

State Rep. Fran Wendelboe (R-New Hampton) has launched a new website called "NH GOP Voice," which she says will serve as an alternative to what she calls an underperforming official New Hampshire Republican Party site.

Since Wendelboe announced the new site earlier today, the state party has updated its own homepage with a link to a Republican National Committee story on state Rep. Sherman Packard's (R-Londonderry) election as House Republican Leader.

Wendelboe is also chairman of the New Hampshire Reagan Network and told PolitickerNH.com last week that she has not yet determined whether she will run for party chairman.

Wendelboe's site also includes information about the county caucuses which are meeting to elect Republicans to the state convention.

New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen told The Union Leader that updating the state site ""hasn't been the highest priority as we entered a post-election environment," and that members who are voting at the caucuses have been notified about the time and location of the meetings.

Do I hear "Taps" being played for the NH Repubs?

This is so darn funny!

Judd Gregg's retirement release is being typed as we speak. He knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.

Wow!

First JoKe Kenney's Op Ed in the Union Leader bashing the party, now this!

It is again a great day to be a Democrat!

Please continue the back biting and in-fighting in the NH GOP!

Senator Lynch I presume?

Seriously, Fran. Can't you

Seriously, Fran. Can't you see that you are actually contributing to the destruction of your party? No, you can't. Your ego is too much in the way. So why don't you swallow it and figure out a way to bring TOGETHER the different levels of the Republican party instead of trying to faction them. Your hero, Ronald Reagan, advocated for unity within the party and as Americans. You are disgrace to him and those principals.

Nut Bowl

This is the perfect storm for State Republicans. Let all the nutcases wander over to Wendlesbowl and then take back your party.

Fran get a life

Fran it is time you got a life. I had a chance to see how divisive your Reagan Network candidates training is to the party. In a room of several first time candidates for rep I had to listen to your goon go on and on about what he thought of other people in his own party rather than teach these courageous people how to run a campaign from the grass roots. Fran you are whats wrong with the party not whats Right!

12/02/08 9:33 am

the way to move forward

is not by living in the past. Do Republicans really think that their continued worship of a dead president will attract young people to the party?

12/02/08 10:32 am

Its all about Fran

Its ALWAYS all about Fran....

12/02/08 11:03 am

Fran as chairman = a

Fran as chairman = a horrible idea. New Hampshire needs this divisive player to just get lost.

12/02/08 2:00 pm

Go Fran, Go!!!

If Republicans have any chance of reclaiming New Hampshire, Fran is on the right track. The fakers (Republicans in name only) who would adopt leftist ideas to "attract" more to the party need to change their party and become Democrats. We are not the party of Fergus Cullen, we are the party of Fran Wendelboe and other conservatives like her. Fran is not dead, she is very much alive. Anyone with half a brain can see that she is promoting the correct Republican principles on her Web site — she may be (correctly) revering a former president, but she is only holding up his ideas for preservation, and they are worth preserving for all time.

In fact, Fran quotes Reagan on her site as saying, "Presidents come and go. History comes and goes, but principles endure…"

The principles Fran is promoting on her Web page are the principles that MUST be adopted by New Hampshire Republicans, not to mention Republicans nationwide. They are: The Free Exercise of Inalienable God-given Rights; Secure Borders and Superior Defense; Protection of [all] Human Life [born and unborn]; Return to Constitutional Justice — [not legislating from the bench]; Safe-Guarding of American Sovereignty — [not subservience to the U.N. or open-border policies]; Preservation of Traditional Family and Marriage; Conservation of Free Markets and Private Property; Minimized Taxation and Limited Government; Market-based Education, Health-care, Energy and Environment; and Transparency and Accountability in Government.

The reason Republicans lost this year is because Bush, the anti-Republican, screwed up the country, and the people running for office were of the same Socialist bilk as Bush. In other words, they were Republicans in name only. McCain? C'mon. Give me a break. That guy is as much a socialist and one-world government guy as Obama and Bush. We need conservative Republicans now!

You Democrats need to use your brains a bit more and not rely solely on your hearts. A balance of both is the correct path. If you continue to use emotion to inform your policy, we will all soon be slaves. I prefer liberty. Conservative Republicans will ensure such liberty in the Granite State!

— A young New Hampshire Republican voter

Fran Please Stop...

We don't need all this bickering. It isn't helping anything.

12/02/08 3:24 pm

right on, free thinker7777

You're absolutely right! Go Fran, Go!!

12/02/08 6:16 pm

Mike, promoting conservatism is not bickering

If Republicans can't talk about principles and the conservative direction the party needs to go, then the party is already lost to the socialists. Like I said, if Republicans are to win again in New Hampshire, we need to remove leftists from power and empower conservatives.

Mike, if you don't want to have that conversation and instead want to silence all debate, then you sir are one of the biggest obstacles to the party's success.

A clear understanding of what is happening in this country is that socialists are taking over both parties. In the Democratic party, it is very clear. In the Republican party, it is becoming more clear — particularly with Bush, McCain, Sununu and Gregg's support for the absolutely awful bailout of banks. If that isn't corporate welfare (read: socialism), I don't know what is. In my opinion, Republican support for the bailouts is one major reason why they lost.

Republicans are the party that believe that government is the problem, not the solution. We need to get back to the task of proving this principle, not apologizing for it.

This country was founded as a Republic and this state as one of its most shining examples of a government run by the people. We are losing it, and if we do, we will lose the New Hampshire advantage that your group wants to preserve.

Pretending the truth doesn't exist is not a good way to fight against this wave of socialism and to restore the Republic. The only way to win and restore our Republic is to talk about the truth and to come up with a strategy to reclaim a government of the people, for the people and by the people.

Since the media and schools are increasingly taken over by socialist interests, it is key that they be targeted with a core conservative Republican message. There must be a conservative free-market individual-run solution to every problem, and it must be pumped out constantly and consistently from a strong, conservative Republican Party leader. Otherwise, the people will continue to believe the lies told by Democrats, and we will lose our freedoms.

Property rights, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures, due process, the right to bear arms so as to allow the people to protect themselves against an oppressive government, the right to petition the government with grievances, the free press, the right to speak freely about any idea and religious freedom are most under attack. We as Republicans MUST clearly explain why these rights are important, and why they are inalienable. We must show the people how they have lost them and propose a plan to restore them.

If you think this is divisive Mike, then maybe you're a Democrat. Maybe you're one of those socialists in the Republican party I'm referring to. Open discussion and debate must be had to restore New Hampshire so that "Live free or Die" are not just empty words.

Food for thought

Choke on it, yo!

It sounds strange to say, but this election season may have done to the word "Republican" what 1972 did for the word "liberal": turned it into a poisonous sobriquet that no politician with bipartisan aspirations will ever again welcome. The Republicans didn't just break the party — they left it smashed into space dust. They weren't just beaten; the very idea of Republican conservatism was massively rejected in virtually every state where large chunks of the population do not believe in the literal existence of a horned devil, and even in some that do.

They lost in every way imaginable, on every political front. The symbol of their anti-gay crusade, Colorado congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, was beheaded. The party that had made so much hay running against Mexicans saw noted anti-immigration crusader Bill Sali of Idaho ousted along with several other members of the Immigration Reform Caucus. The GOP's grasp on the so-called "moral values" issue likewise went up in roaring flames, with Rep. Vito Fossella of Staten Island the poster child — his morals were once so perfect that he refused to be seen with his gay sister, and now he's a national joke, bounced after being caught drunk driving and having unprotected, babymaking sex with a married Air Force officer.

Quick response

Look Mitchell, it's clear you have no clue from what you just said and that you didn't read what I wrote, either. Republicans tried to win this election with centrists such as John McCain and in our state, Sununu. They claimed to be conservatives, but were not by any stretch of the imagination. Since most people are not stupid, they rejected them.

Any thinking person knows that George Bush is no conservative Republican. I would argue that he is not Republican at all. Your idea that Republicanism has become the new liberal is ludicrous. Everyone knows that "progressive" is the new "liberal," which really means "socialist" anyway. People didn't vote for socialists, they voted against the fake Republicans who would have continued us down the same wrong path as Bush.

I'll give the Dems credit. They called McCain and Sununu for what they were: Bush clones. If Republicans want to win, they must return to conservatism, not run from it.

As clear evidence that I am right: the only reason anyone thought McCain had any chance at all was because he picked conservative Palin for his running mate. His numbers shot through the roof when he announced her and after her conservative speech. When the public realized McCain was going to throw her under the bus after the media went after her for absolutely ridiculous reasons, while ignoring their true duty to report evenly against Republican and Democratic candidates, they realized that she wouldn't have any authority in his administration, and he again lost support. McCain was no and is no Republican. Look at what the fool told India today (not to retaliate against the people who attacked them). What kind of nonsense is that?

In other news, every single conservative ballot initiative to confirm marriage is between a man and a woman passed, even in California. You're dreaming if you think conservatism is what Americans voted against. If there were conservatives running for election, they would have won.

This election came down to the economy and the Republican-in-name-only response to it, as well as the Iraq War, which is not really a conservative idea anyway. Conservatives believe that war is reserved for defensive reasons when the nation's immediate interest is under attack. Neo-cons, as they're called, who are really statists (read: totalitarians), are simply not conservative. "Compassionate conservatism" is not conservatism, it's socialism.

The Americans rejected the socialist Republicans in name only and gave the Dems the chance to turn the heat up quickly. Perhaps I'm wrong, but my guess is the frog is going to jump out of the pot before Obama leaves office. Conservatism needs to return to the Republican Party and it will return.

But you're a Democrat anyway, Mitchell, so why don't you mind your own business and enjoy your short lived adventure in destroying this country so the people again see that government is causing their problems, not solving them.

Fran is everything that is

Fran is everything that is WRONG with the Republican party. This kind of behavior is horrible and childish. This is why there are no youth in the party and it is dying out! Young voters (I am 20, so I know what I speak about) are sick of this kind of politics. It's unhealthy for the party. Fran, please stop!!

12/02/08 9:28 pm

Hear, hear Free Thinker.

Hear, hear Free Thinker. It's clear these Democrats are giddy about winning nationally because of idiot Bush, who I agree is a socialist just like Obama, Gregg and Sununu.

What Democrats fail to realize is that the Republicans picked up several seats in the state Legislature, showing that if anything, the party is gaining strength in New Hampshire. It would be interesting to see how conservative those Republicans are. I bet they are quite a bit conservative.

Let the Democrats ride on the anti-McCain, anti-Bush coattails for some time. Once they screw up the country enough, we're going to see a swing far right, and it will be good.

Republicans out there, don't listen to these Democrats who dominate this Democratic media outlet, and others. Don't let them fool you. The so-called Republican Union Leader is just as Democratic as any other newspaper out there. Maybe it's owner isn't, but look at the articles. The reek of left-wing diatribe.

Fran has already said her site was temporary, until the Republicans grew some balls, returned to their roots and started hitting these idiot Democrats hard. It's time to return to the age of reason, and leave these emotional carpet baggers in the dust. Go Fran go! Republican leaders: if you don't want to go extinct, maybe you'll start listening to her. Or maybe a third party will replace you like you replaced the Whigs. Someone has to stand for Liberty in this land.

-- A 20-something Republican who wants real change (so that we can be free again)

12/02/08 11:05 pm

p.s.

Anonymously2, How can Fran be everything that is wrong with politics? If politics means that people need to shut up and speak in sync with the party line, then maybe you're right, and maybe I should move to Russia where I might be more free.

But you're not right. Not at all! Politics is about disagreeing with people and compromising. It's dirty and ugly sometimes, and that's the way it should be.

Fran is forcing a dialogue among Republicans so they don't keep going down the wrong path like they have been. That's what politics is all about. After all, being able to freely express ideas that may not be what everyone wants to hear is what this country is all about. It's what makes us free. If we have to line up and agree with one of two party lines, or worse, one party line, then what are we really other than slaves?

Fran's behavior is neither horrible or childish, it is absolutely necessary and absolutely the right thing to do. It is what makes this life interesting, and what makes this country run better.

I thought Democrats were supposed to be for new ideas and open discussion? If that's all they want to hear is their ideas, then how open is that. Same thing with Republicans, there is no right answer. Let's grow up and talk about the different ideas out there, looking at the facts, not emotion, and come to the right conclusion about the right direction. My assertion, based on what I've seen in this election, is that conservatism is the way to go. Call it constitutionalism or whatever -- we need to return to our roots!

Fergus made a funny

There were lots of new people who were elected delegates for the GOP... most got letters a week before the caucus... great job..
how hard it it to update a website with dates, times and locations?
The GOP is way to disorganized.

And Ronald Reagan's rhetoric was better than his reality. He helped grow the government to an epic size.

Hmm...

Why do so many of these long posts supporting Fran under different names all sound like they were written by the same person (read Fran).
