Former U.S. Rep. and 1st Congressional District candidate Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) picked up the endorsement of the National Rifle Association today.
“You have demonstrated your support in office for our Second Amendment Rights and hunting heritage," wrote NRA Director of Federal Affairs Charles Cunningham in a letter. "We appreciate your pro-gun actions in Congress during your tenure."
Bradley, who is opposing John Stephen (R-Manchester) in the Republican primary for the chance to challenge U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester), received an "A" rating from the pro-gun rights group and was recognized for his cosponsorship and votes in favor of the DC Personal Protection Act, Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act and Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.
“I am very proud to receive the support of the NRA,” said Bradley. “It is thanks to their hard work and vigor that the efforts to diminish the rights granted to us in our Second Amendment, have not been successful."
The endorsement was panned by David Wheeler, former Executive Councilor and self-described 2nd Amendment activist.
"Jeb Bradley just can't be trusted when it comes to protecting the 2nd Amendment," said Wheeler in a statement issued by the Stephens campaign. "Jeb Bradley supported legislation banning firearms in New Hampshire and required all New Hampshire citizens to keep their personal protective firearms locked up, leaving them defenseless. He also opposed reforming the state pistol licensing process and supported raising the pistol license fee by 650%."
Wheeler explained why Stephens received an "A" rating from the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition.
"For example, when John was Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Safety, he secured reciprocal agreements with other states for our concealed carry licenses, reformed the state's pistol license application process and prohibited the federal government from requiring your Social Security Number when you get your hunting and fishing licenses."

Once again, the NRA sells
Once again, the NRA sells out its grassroots members so Cunningham and LaPierre will keep getting to hobnob with power players in Washington.
The NRA obviously endorsed
The NRA obviously endorsed someone with a proven track record they can trust. John Stephens just got a "self described 2nd amendment activist" to endorse him. I know who the NRA is and I am a member, I don't know who David Wheeler is and what his group is all about. I'm going with the NRA, I'm going with Jeb Bradley.

NRA does ok..but not great.
The NRA has a long history of fairly spotty performance when it comes to endorsing the right candidate or protecting our second amendment rights.
Take a look at his historical ratings even from the NRA he has had a grade a low as a C- and the NRA has sometimes sold out on certain firearms rights issues.
Bradley is part of the old school sell-out liberal republicans that have nearly killed the party.
