Scott Spradling, one of the state's most politically powerful people as WMUR-TV's political director, has decided not to renew his contract with New Hampshire's only major news station to set up a consulting firm.
Spradling's last day at the station will be April 11. No replacement has been announced.
The Spradling Group will help businesses with their public relations and become more politically relevant.
He joined WMUR in 1996 coming from the cross-town radio station WGIR. At WMUR he anchors the 5pm news and the Sunday morning political news show "Close-Up". As the station's political director he has moderated political debates at every level including nationally televised presidential debates. He was also granted the first oval office interview with George W. Bush. In a state were a political press secretary's day can be defined on whether or not WMUR covered their event, it was Spradling call whether to send a camera.

Good riddance! Scott sucked the life out of this state daily from 5-6pm and god forbid Tom Griffith(who isn't much better) was on vacation.
Scott will not be missed. I hope his business ventures fail and his whole world crashes down on him.
