Granny D bill up for Senate vote

Tomorrow, the State Senate is scheduled vote on House Bill 794, also nicknamed the "Granny D" bill.

The bill would create a commission that would study the "feasibility of public funding of state election campaigns." The bill passed the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs Committee.

"I think the Commission will do its job well, and that it will come up with inventive, innovative ways to implement the concept here ‘The New Hampshire Way,' " said Portsmouth State Rep. Jim Splaine.

HB 794 passed the House on January 16th on a roll call of 199 to 121.

The Commission would be required to reports its findings by December 1, 2008.
