Bosse hits rivals on gun control, taxes

Second congressional district candidate Grant Bosse issued a statement today hitting his Republican primary rival Jennifer Horn for "[deciding] that defending the Second Amendment just isn't that important this year". Bosse also accused Bob Clegg of "[abandoning] his commitment to oppose tax increases". The full text of the statements follows below.

Horn to Gun Owners: Election Isn’t About Guns

Horn continues to waffle on Second Amendment issues

(Nashua)  Faced with its candidate’s inconsistent record on gun control, the Jennifer Horn campaign is trying to downplay the importance of supporting the Second Amendment in New Hampshire.  When asked to defend Horn’s flip-flops for and against new gun control laws and civil unions, the Horn campaign told the Concord Monitor “this election isn’t about gay marriage and guns.”

“Jennifer Horn has decided that defending the Second Amendment just isn’t that important this year,” Republican rival Grant Bosse said.  “This is despite the Supreme Court’s narrow defense of Second Amendment rights, and Nancy Pelosi’s commitment to restoring the DC Gun Ban.”

Horn is on record supporting “common-sense restrictions to protect kids from guns,” and has described herself as being “uncomfortable with guns.” Now the Horn campaign is attempting to downplay the importance of the Second Amendment in the 2008 election.

“Every time Jennifer Horn is caught taking positions on both sides of an issue, she lashes out but refuses to explain herself,” Bosse added.  “Instead of picking a position and sticking to it, Jennifer Horn now believes these issues just aren’t important.”

Bosse has been a leader in calling for further protections of our Second Amendment rights, including national reciprocity for state gun laws, and a right to carry in National Parks. For more information on Bosse’s aggressive grassroots campaign, go to www.Bosse2008.com.

Clegg Abandons Tax Pledge

Calls Pledge a “Publicity Stunt”

(Nashua)  Congressional hopeful Bob Clegg has abandoned his previous commitment against tax increases, calling the traditional tax pledge that he’s taken in the past a “publicity stunt.”  Republican rival Grant Bosse says Clegg took the Taxpayer Protection Pledge in 2006, but refuses to take it now in his run for Congress.  Clegg also advocates a national sales tax plan known as the “Fair Tax.”

“Jeanne Shaheen always took the Tax Pledge, until she didn’t. Then she proposed a sales tax for New Hampshire,” Bosse said.  “Now Bob Clegg has abandoned his commitment to oppose tax increases, and continues to push a national sales tax.”

Bosse has challenged Clegg to renew his commitment to opposing tax increases now that Clegg is seeking national office.  In yesterday’s Concord Monitor, Clegg refused, adding, “I don't need to sign every time it's a good publicity stunt."  Clegg claims that his national sales tax plan, known as the “Fair Tax” would not raise overall taxes, but still will not commit to voting against tax increases.

“Bob Clegg should know that the Tax Pledge isn’t a publicity stunt.  It’s a firm commitment to the voters of New Hampshire to oppose new taxes,” Bosse added.  “Bob Clegg had no problem taking this pledge in the past.  What’s changed, Bob?”

Bosse signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge on April 15th, Tax Day. For more information on Bosse’s aggressive grassroots campaign, go to www.Bosse2008.com.

Bosse, negative campaigns

Bosse, negative campaigns will get you nowhere. If you were to some reason pull of a win in September (though I highly doubt NH is that numb), I, a strong Republican, would vote for Hodes. Keep the negative campagning for your parents basement.
