Shea-Porter says stimulus bill should include accountability measures

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) told PolitickerNH.com that a potential stimulus bill should include a way to track the money that will be spent.

"We're still talking about what will actually be in that bill, but my main emphasis is obviously it needs to stimulate the economy," Shea-Porter said. "We need to have tough accountability for the dollars because this is a tremendous expenditure, and I will absolutely insist on the accountability part of it. And I want to make sure that it does what it's intended to do, to alleviate a lot of the suffering throughout our communities in the state and country."

Just After Being Sworn-In, Shea-Porter Voted to Change House Rules Cementing Rangel’s Chairmanship, Making it Easier to Raise Taxes

Washington- Carol Shea-Porter(D-NH) may have promised to change the way that business is done in Washington, but apparently she didn’t specify exactly how she would change it.  Shea-Porter quickly abandoned her campaign promises to foster the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history when she joined the ranks of the Democrat-led Congress, and in short order toed the party line to enact the Democrats’ new House Rules for the 111th Congress.  Shea-Porter helped her fellow Democrats pass the rules package which includes eliminating term limits for committee chairmen and making it easier to raise taxes on the American people.
