Analysts say Biden could help Obama in N.H. for different reasons

New Hampshire political analysts are unsure has to the impact that Barack Obama's decision to have Joe Biden as his running-mate will have in the Granite State.

Dean Spiliotes, political analyst at NHPoliticalCapital.com, says Biden could help with independent voters, while Dante Scala, political professor at University of New Hampshire, thinks Biden will unify a generational divide in the Democratic Party.

Are primaries good for the GOP?

After the dust settles from the election the question will be asked whether or not competitive primaries, in both congressional districts, benefited the Republican Party.

Did the primaries help or hinder voter outreach? What if there are lingering harsh feelings? Should the candidates have used tougher words on U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) instead of on each other? These are just some of the "what if" questions that will be examined after November, especially if Republicans fail to gain a congressional seat.

Morning talk show wrap-up

WMUR's Close-Up concentrated on political advertisements and their effects on the electorate. The panel consisted of New Hampshire Institute of Politics Political Director Jennifer Donahue, New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen, Director of the New Hampshire Democratic Party's coordinated campaign Colin Van Ostern and Dean Spiliotes, from NH Political Capital.

The panel also discussed U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes and his franked mailings and possible issues that will dominate the November election.
