Update: Stepanek says Pignatelli guilty of ‘broken promises’

The campaign for the Executive Council District 5 race began in earnest with Republican Stephen Stepanek accusing his opponent of breaking campaign promises.

Stepanek, a state rep. from Amherst, said that current Executive Councilor Debora Pignatelli (D-Nashua) has failed to stop no-bid contracts and reduce tolls in Merrimack.

Five Republicans filing for Executive Council: Politicker PhotoFive Republicans filing for Executive Council: Politicker PhotoCONCORD - Five Republican candidates filed for Executive Council today with the Secretary of State running on a platform for change, fiscal responsibility and better representation with local government.

Among the five, of course, was Ray Burton (R-Bath), incumbent Executive Councilor is running for re-election in District 1. If re-elected, Burton would be the longest serving Executive Councilor in New Hampshire history, according to Secretary of State Bill Gardner.

Stepanek announces candidacy

State Rep. Stephen Stepanek (R-Amherst) will announce his candidacy for Executive Council in a series of speeches throughout the Fifth District.

The speeches will be held on Friday and Monday.

On Friday, Stepanek will be in Amherst, Merrimack and Goffstown. He will then be in Keene and Nashua on Monday.
