State Rep. Marlene DeChane (D-Barrington) has resigned her position as one of the House floor leaders.

DeChane resigned after being told by another floor leader that she should resign if she continues to oppose the House leadership.

Gov. John Lynch today issued the following the House vote on CACR 34:

"I believe that New Hampshire has a responsibility to ensure that all children have an opportunity for a quality education. We should be able to do more to help kids and communities with greater needs, and we can't do that in the most effective way under the Court's rulings. I am deeply disappointed that the House failed to pass today a Constitutional Amendment that would have given the legislature and the governor the ability to make the right policy choices for our kids.

SENATE CONCURS WITH HOUSE ON EDUCATION FUNDING

 

CONCORD – The Senate voted 18-6 today to concur with the House on changes to an education funding plan that provides for a two-year transition to a new constitutional funding plan and protects towns from losing funding during that time.

HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE PASSES EDUCATION

FUNDING AMENDMENT

 

CONCORD – Today, the House Finance Committee voted 20-5 to pass CACR34, a proposed constitutional amendment on funding public education in New Hampshire. The amendment now heads to the House floor.
