Congressional candidates applaud pick

DENVER--Republican congressional candidates are commenting on the selection of Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) as the Republican vice-presidential nominee.

"This is a great choice and America should be proud," 2nd Congressional District candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) said in a press release. "As governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has been a strong voice for the people; tackling high taxes, government waste and corruption. She has been a leader in the effort to reform what is wrong with the way government works."

Jennifer Horn: Dazed, Confused, and Unprepared
Can't explain own position on national security, veterans, medical marijuana

(Nashua)   Republican Grant Bosse admonished Jennifer Horn for yet another example of her naivety on important national issues. In a recent exchange with the Concord Monitor Editorial Board, Horn was dazed and confused when trying to answer a question concerning the Patriot Act. This is just the latest example of Horn failing to address serious issues. Horn could not say which version of the new GI Bill of Rights she supported, nor could she tell the difference between the two proposed versions. Horn also failed to clarify whether she supports legalized medical marijuana. When pressed to clarify her position, Horn had to be rescued by her staff.

"Jennifer Horn has proven herself to be dazed, confused, and unprepared to serve in Congress," Bosse said. "Jennifer Horn is dazed on legalizing marijuana, confused on the GI Bill of Rights, and unprepared to even address the Patriot Act and civil liberties."

In an editorial board meeting with the Concord Monitor, Horn could not answer a question about the Patriot Act, and whether she supported John Sununu's efforts to amend it to protect civil liberties. In a recent interview with the Concord Monitor, Horn couldn't explain which version of the GI Bill of Rights she supported. When pressed to explain her position, she replied "You know what, I'm not going to compare the two bills right now, because I really don't remember the exact comparisons." Following a debate in Nashua, Horn could not say whether she would repeal federal drug laws, and leave such decisions to state government. Horn was pulled away from the questioner by her campaign staff before she could answer the question.

"National security, civil liberties, the GI Bill of Rights, these are serious issues, and we deserve serious candidates who are prepared to address them," Bosse continued. "Jennifer Horn is as dangerously unprepared as Barack Obama."

Bosse's Commitment to Cut Spending Dominates Salem Debate

Bosse's Commitment to Cut Spending Dominates Salem Debate
Bosse: $30 billion in annual spending cuts; Opponents; $0

(Salem)   Republican Grant Bosse once again outshined his primary opponents at tonight's candidates' forum, sponsored by the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Bosse's unmatched commitment to cutting federal spending dominated the debate, as once again Bosse was the only candidate to propose specific cuts to the federal budget.

"If we're going to prove to taxpayers that we're serious about cutting federal spending, we have to say where we're willing to cut," said Bosse. "And again tonight, my opponents proposed zero dollars in taxpayer savings, while I proposed $30 billion per year."

Bosse highlighted many of the programs listed in his innovative "50 Days, 50 Ways to Cut Federal Spending" initiative, such as ethanol subsidies, corporate welfare, and pork-barrel spending. Bosse also promised on his first day in Congress that he would introduce legislation blocking Congressional pay raises until Congress balances the budget.

"I'm proud to have run the most detailed, most comprehensive, grassroots conservative campaign, but I can summarize it all in just ten words. Stop spending, start drilling, get government out of the way," Bosse concluded. "But 45 years ago today, Dr. King summarized it more eloquently and more succinctly, 'Let Freedom Ring'."

Republicans debate in 2nd District

SALEM — In one of their last debates before their primary just 11 days away, the four Republican 2nd Congressional District candidates discussed Iraq, the economy, and health care along with the themes of who was the best person to take on the Democrat they all hope to defeat, Paul Hodes.

While they will debate one more time next week, this debate carried major significance since it occurred in Salem, one of the most heavily Republican towns in the state.

It was a debate that saw former talk show host Jennifer Horn on the attack. Most of that attack was aimed at state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson), who is perceived as the front-runner. Horn, who is the second best funded candidate in the race, particularly went after Clegg's voting record.

Bosse Unveils National Security Plan

Congressional candidate sets out security priorities at home and abroad

(Nashua)  Republican Grant Bosse today unveiled a comprehensive National Security Plan to win the war against Islamic Fascism, secure America’s borders, and modernize America’s military, diplomatic, and intelligence agencies.  Bosse laid out his priorities for national security while addressing employees at BAE Systems in Nashua.  BAE is New Hampshire’s largest manufacturer, and provides essential equipment for U.S. troops across several branches of the military.
