Carol Shea-Porter on Politico’s list of 5 most vulnerable Democrats

Politico.com has a new report on the five Democratic incumbents they see as most likely to lose their seats and New Hampshire’s Carol Shea-Porter is on the list.

"Shea-Porter was perhaps the longest of long-shot Democratic winners in 2006, knocking off the Republican incumbent, Jeb Bradley, even though she spent hardly any money and ran a one-note campaign focused on her opposition to the Iraq war. Now with the economy and gas prices dominating the political discourse, her challenge is to become a more well-rounded candidate."

Stephen goes after Shea-Porter

Just one day after officially filing to run for a spot in the state's Congressional delegation, New Hampshire Republicans have already taken their gloves off.

John Stephen (R-Manchester), a 1st Congressional District candidate and former commissioner of Health and Human Services, issued a statement today condemning the district's Democratic U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter for voting to halt the passage of a 2007 bill that would increase oil shale development, and for opposing legislation that banned federal purchases of coal-to-liquid and tar sands petroleum.

Bradley aims at Shea-Porter in first ad

Republican Congressional candidate Jeb Bradley released the first television and radio ads of his campaign and the first non-presidential related ads in New Hampshire this cycle.

The ads, titled "The Right Kind of Change," began airing on WMUR this morning. Intead of focusing on his primary against John Stephen the ads goes entirely after Democratic U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter.

John Stephen campaigning in ConwayJohn Stephen campaigning in ConwayCONWAY- This morning congressional candidate John Stephen officially launched his campaign with stops in Glen and Conway calling for less government spending.

Stephen is traveling the 1st congressional district in a bus joined by Executive Council member Ray Burton, his father Bobby, his brother Chuck and various other campaign staffers and supporters.

"We're going to be talking about optimism, hope and trust," Stephen told the crowd at Glen's Patch's Market.

Dodds, on national television, 'disappointed' with decision

Former Democratic Congressional candidate Gary Dodds said he was "disappointed" with three guilty verdicts against him yesterday that he faked his disappearance in after a car wreck 2004 to get publicity for his campaign.
