Waxman to join Hodes for Concord fundraiser

U.S. Rep. Henry WaxmanU.S. Rep. Henry WaxmanU.S. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) will join U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) for a fundraiser next week.

Waxman will attend a fundraiser for the Merrimack County Democrats on July 12 in Concord at the Red River Theatres. A ticket to the event will cost $15.

Hodes wants vets mileage reimbursement increased

U.S. Rep. Paul HodesU.S. Rep. Paul HodesU.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) is co-sponsoring legislation that would increase the amount veterans traveling for health care receive from the Veterans Affairs Administration.

The bill, Veterans Travel Equity Act, would allow veterans to receive 50.5 cents per mile they travel to a VA hospital.

"With gas prices setting new records again and again this year, it is costing New Hampshire veterans more to drive those long distances to get the care they desperately need," Hodes said in a statement. "Veterans are paying more and drive further to get important medical coverage and that is plain wrong."

Challenges Democrat to Back Real Solutions for Veterans Health Care

 

(Concord)  Responding to Paul Hodes latest election-year gimmick, Republican Grant Bosse today challenged the Democrat to back real reform to the VA System and real solutions to bring down gas prices.  Hodes is proposing an increase in the mileage reimbursement for veterans who have to travel to receive medical care.  Hodes opposes letting veterans use their benefits at any hospital they choose, and has repeatedly blocked efforts to increase domestic gasoline production.

Congressman Hodes Announces Support for Legislation to Help Veterans with Soaring Gas Prices

       

Concord, NH – Congressman Paul Hodes today announced that he is co-sponsoring the Veterans Travel Equity Act, bipartisan legislation that would increase the mileage reimbursement rate for veterans traveling to receive health care. Congressman Hodes made his announcement after learning last week that the Bush Administration would not support a full service VA Hospital in Manchester and as New Hampshire veterans continue to grapple with record high gas prices.

House subpoenas DOJ in phone jamming case

The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed the Department of Justice to request their records relating to the New Hampshire 2002 phone-jamming case.

In 2002 the state Republican Party paid a political operative to jam the phone lines of the New Hampshire Democratic Party get-out-the-vote effort.

Bosse proposes reforms of franked mail for U.S. House members

CONCORD -- 2nd Congressional District Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) laid-out three steps he would take to reform congressional "franking privileges."

The "franking privilege" allows U.S. House members to send free mailings to constituents and must be seen by a bi-partisan congressional committee before being mailed.

Bosse Calls for Franking Reform

Challenges Hodes to stop abusing taxpayer privileges

 

(Concord)  Hillsboro Republican Grant Bosse today introduced a plan to end Congressional abuse of tax dollars and the use of the Franking Privilege to re-elect Members of Congress.  Bosse outlined three steps that would prevent Congressmen from using tax dollars for self-promotion, and challenged incumbent Democrat Paul Hodes to support these overdue reforms.
