If not Kenney, who? The 62 NH Republicans who would get at least 18 percent against Lynch this year

The University of New Hampshire poll this week showed Republican gubernatorial candidate Joe Kenney receiving a whopping 17 percent of support against Democratic Gov. John Lynch. Given Lynch's approval rating (75 percent) some argue that no one could do better than that. I disagree.

Below is a non-comprehensive list of 62 New Hampshire Republicans we think would at least get 18 percent. Surely U.S. Sens. John E. Sununu and John McCain have their own wish lists. Use the comment section to argue how wrong I was or who I stupidly left off.

CONCORD--The rising costs of home heating oil has forced Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) and legislative leaders to call for special legislation to help residents deal with historic increases in energy prices.

Surrounded by a bi-partisan group of legislators, Lynch announced that the proposed legislation would allow the state to advance $10 million from state coffers to programs that offer help to low-income residents. The money would allow the state to continue serving the 35,000 families that rely on heating assistance from the state. If Congress raises the amount it gives to New Hampshire for home heating assistance, from the current $27.5 million, the state would use the extra money to pay off the $10 million advance.

GATSAS SENDS BACKUS CLEAN CAMPAIGN PLEDGE
DEMOCRAT PARTY LEADERS ASKED TO SIGN ON

MANCHESTER,
NH - - Senator Ted Gatsas has challenged opponent Robert “Bob” Backus to sign a Clean Campaign Pledge.  “It’s my hope that Bob will agree to run an issues based campaign rather than resorting to scare tactics, distortion and cheap campaign trickery” began Gatsas.

The Clean Campaign Pledge has four objectives: 1) to call for an exemplary code of conduct to be followed by each  candidate, 2) an agreement to not personally attack one another, 3) denounce all third party activity and 4) receive acknowledgement from third party stakeholders to honor the pledge.

“There are critical issues facing the voters and they deserve solutions over dirty political rhetoric.  The constituents in District 16 are concerned about how they are going to pay for their heating bills this winter, the escalating cost of gas for their cars to get to and from work and how the State of New Hampshire’s looming fiscal crisis is going to affect their pocket book.
