Update: Senate Majority Leader Foster not running for re-election

In a shocker, the state Majority Leader Joe Foster (D-Nashua) announced moments ago he is not running for re-election. This leaves both Nashua senate seats open.

"It has been a great honor and privilege to serve the people of New Hampshire in the State Senate for the past 6 years and the last two years as Senate Majority Leader," Foster said in a statement. "I hope through my efforts along with those of my colleagues I have made New Hampshire just a little bit better because to me that is what public service is all about."

State Sen. Peter BurlingState Sen. Peter BurlingCONCORD -- State Sen. Peter Burling (D-Cornish) announced this morning that he is not running for re-election and subsequently announced that he is endorsing State Rep. Matt Houde (D-Plainfield) to be his replacement.

"It has been my great privilege to represent the people of the Connecticut Valley and most recently the wonderful folks of Senate District 5. After the ending of this term I will be leaving the legislature and I will be leaving the legislature with the privilege and honor to have served in this institution," Burling said.
