Buckley stresses speaker diversity

DENVER--Being a delegate from New Hampshire did have its advantages this year. Invitation-only parties, free breakfast, gifts galore and hearing speeches from prominent Democratic leaders.

New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said he was amazed by the diversity of the speakers that spoke before the delegation.

All in the family

There is no shortage of second and third generations of American political families addressing delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week: Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy; James Roosevelt, Jr., the grandson of President Franklin D. Roosevelt; U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL), the son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988; U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), the daughter of former New Orleans Mayor/U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Moon Landrieu; U.S. Sen. Robert Casey (D-PA), the son of former Pennsylvania Gov. Bob Casey; Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, the daughter of former Ohio Gov. John Gilligan; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the daughter of former Baltimore Mayor/U.S. Rep. Thomas D’Alesandro; Iowa Gov. Chet Culver, the son of former U.S. Sen. John Culver (D-IA); New York Gov. Culver discusses importance of primary

Iowa Gov. Chet CulverIowa Gov. Chet CulverDENVER- Iowa Gov. Chet Culver discussed the importance of protecting the status of the New Hampshire primary and Iowa caucuses at the New Hampshire Democrats morning breakfast.

"I think the more people that understands our rich history in the primary the better chance we have in protecting it," Culver told New Hampshire Democrats.
