Barr wants Phillies removed from N.H. ballot

Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr and the New Hampshire Libertarian Party has filed a lawsuit against the state of New Hampshire attempting to remove George Phillies from the ballot, The Nashua Telegraph reported.

Phillies, also a libertarian presidential candidate, qualified to appear on the November ballot despite the fact that the national Libertarian party nominated Barr in May.

Concord and Manchester Taxpayer’s get their day in Court

 

Manchester, NH – In the wake of an obvious political move to ignore the will of taxpayers in Concord and Manchester, NHAC and a group of local taxpayers in both communities filed an injunction to get their respective spending/tax caps on the November 2008 ballot. Those hearings have now been scheduled and  the dates of those hearings are as follows:

Hall submits 1200 signatures

Independent state Senate candidate Betty Hall has submitted the necessary number of signatures to be verified by local election officials.

Hall, of Brookline, is attempting to run for the state Senate in the 12th district, which includes parts of Nashua, Hollis, Mason and Brookline. To gain access to the November ballot she needed to submit 700 signatures for verification and now must wait for the town clerks to approve the signatures.

Coming right down to the wire of the deadline, 1200 signatures have been submitted to checklist supervisors for verification. The required number has been exceeded to ensure that all signatures collected come from voters living within the district Hall would represent, i.e.Nashua Wards 1, 2, 5, 9, Towns of Hollis, Brookline and Mason.

Barr collects 5,000 signatures in N.H.

New Hampshire voters are one step closer to having the option of picking from two Libertarian presidential candidates.

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr has collected 5,000 signatures in the Granite State and George Phillies has already qualified to appear on the November ballot. August 6 was the deadline for thirty-party candidates to hand in 3,000 to local election officials who will then verify the signatures.

Nader clears first hurdle

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader is on his way to gaining access to the New Hampshire ballot in November.

Yesterday, Nader's campaign handed in 6,000 signatures to town clerks across the state. August 6th was the deadline for independent statewide candidates to collect 3,000 signatures.

Barr, a former Republican U.S. House member from Georgia, was nominated at the Libertarian National Convention in Denver over the Memorial Day weekend.
