Buckley stresses speaker diversity

DENVER--Being a delegate from New Hampshire did have its advantages this year. Invitation-only parties, free breakfast, gifts galore and hearing speeches from prominent Democratic leaders.

Edwards not interested in running for president

DENVER--Even though he spoke before the delegation with the first-in-the-nation primary, U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Tex.) said his visit was not a hint to a future presidential campaign.

Edwards was often mentioned as a possible vice-presidential nominee during the recent vetting process and told the New Hampshire delegation that it was an "honor" to appear on the vice-presidential shortlist.

Edwards stumps for Shea-Porter in Granite State

MANCHESTER-U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Texas) paid a visit to the state with the first-in-the-nation primary.

Edwards, mentioned earlier this month as a possible vice-presidential nominee, came to New Hampshire to campaign for freshman U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

Edwards may not get VP, but mention could help him in '10

The exposure he gets from speculation that he could become Barack Obama’s running mate is likely to help the political career of Chet Edwards, an obscure Texas Congressman who was but on the VP list earlier this month by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  Edwards , who will be in New Hampshire this weekend campaigning for freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Carol Shea Porter, could wind up running for the U.S. Senate in 2010, and his mention as a vice presidential candidate will help him increase his national base of friends – and his ability to raise money.

U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Texas), who is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's choice to become Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate, is scheduled to appear in the Granite State this weekend at a campaign event for U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

"I didn't want to see a discussion of candidates for vice president without showing the House of Representatives... I just wanted people to be aware of the extraordinary credentials of Chet Edwards. And I hope he will be the nominee," Pelosi said earlier this month, according to CNN.

Edwards is scheduled to help launch the "Veterans and Military Families for Carol Shea-Porter" group in Manchester. He is also the chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.
