Benson donates money to charity

Former Gov. Craig Benson is one of the many New Hampshire residents who has donated money following a theft at the Rochester Salvation Army on Tuesday that stripped the center of hundreds of toys collected for the Wish Upon A Star program.

The Associated Press reported that soon after WOKQ's Morning Waking Crew began discussing the burglary, Benson showed up at WOKQ's offices on Thursday with a check for $10,000.

Former NH AP reporter now at White House

A former reporter for The Associated Press in New Hampshire and Ohio has landed one of the top political news reporting positions in Washington, D.C.

The AP announced earlier this week in an internal memo that Phil Elliott will now be covering the White House for the international news bureau. Elliott covered the New Hampshire primary for over a year and then covered the general election in Ohio.

AP poll shows Democratic trend

An Associated Press poll has good news for Barack Obama and Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury). The poll shows Obama with an 18 point lead over John McCain, while Shaheen has a six-point lead over U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley).

Obama leads McCain 55 percent to 37 percent and Shaheen is beating Sununu 47 percent to 41 percent.

Obama stumps in Granite State, pushes McCain-Bush connection

While campaigning in New Hampshire, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama continued to link John McCain to President Bush, The Associated Press reported.

"I'm not running against George Bush. I'm running against all those policies of George Bush that you support, Sen. McCain," Obama said at Mack's Apples in Londonderry. "In three debates and over 20 months, John McCain hasn't explained a single thing that he would do differently from George Bush when it comes to the most important economic issues we face today. Not one."
